CEREC: One Hour Crowns

Get One Day Dental Crowns With CEREC

Generally, there are two separate dental appointments required to get a dental crown to repair a damaged or broken tooth. The first visit consists of the dentist taking an impression of your teeth to prepare a crown. The impression is then sent to a lab for processing and you are fitted with a temporary crown. On the second visit, after being injected with anesthesia for the second time, the dentist then installs the permanent crown. This process is now outdated with the introduction of the CEREC tooth replacement system. In one simple visit, your dentist will use digital imaging technology to create and install a permanent crown to your teeth.

How Does CEREC Work?

When you come into the dentist’s office, your dentist will begin by examining the broken or missing tooth. After this, he or she will coat the tooth with a safe, tasteless powder and then take a 3D image of your tooth. Using software, the dentist will then fully design the details of your restoration. Because of the digital imaging technology, the replacement will be highly precise and custom fitted to your tooth. The dentist will then send the design to the on-site machine that will create the restoration. After about 20 minutes, your dentist will bond your new restoration in place and your teeth will be returned to their natural form.

The Benefits Of CEREC

There are many reasons to visit a dentist that uses CEREC instead of one that does not. Perhaps the most significant benefit is the convenience of completing the procedure in one quick visit. Because you are only coming in on one occasion, you save time and do not have to subject yourself to multiple injections. In addition, CEREC does not require you to wear a temporary crown. These can often be uncomfortable and because they are not specifically designed for your tooth, they can often fall out, possibly leading to more problems.

Another benefit of CEREC technology is the esthetic aspect. Instead of metal fillings, all tooth restorations done using CEREC are performed using materials that closely resemble real teeth. In fact, there is usually no discernable difference between real teeth and CEREC teeth. CEREC has 17 different shades to use that ensure the replacement tooth will fit in with the rest of your teeth. In addition, CEREC material has a similar composition to real teeth and will expand and contract at the same rate due to temperature fluctuations. This reduces the risk of cracks or breaks.

CEREC technology is the preferred method to fix broken teeth by cosmetic dentists everywhere. The added convenience to both patient and dentist combined with the high effectiveness of the procedure makes it the best option available today.
